What is Circuit of Change?

As much as society talks about creating social change and pushing for sustainability, if you take a look around you’ll notice a distinct lack of resources available to the everyday consumer. Fashion and lifestyle goods remain on a steady incline of growth. Especially since the use of the internet has made shopping much more accessible on a global scale. However steady growth brings in questions about the ethics of production and manufacturing. Despite the release of the Nike article in the 90s, not much has changed in our shopping habits and the impact that we as humans have on people and the globe.

Thus Circuit of Change comes in as a community non-profit looking to bridge the gap in the circular economy bringing resources and information to everyday people. Each workshop and event moves past the simple goal of sustainability and seeks to empower participants to interweave the concepts of sustainability in their everyday lives.

Circular Economics

A relatively new term that has appeared in the English lexicon in the last ten years– circular economics focuses on tackling climate change through decoupling economic activity from the use of Earth’s finite resources (Ellen MacArthur Foundation). Juxtaposed from a linear economy where items are manufactured with the purpose of singular use, circular economics asks us to see our products as multi-use items that can be recycled numerous times to reduce the waste of resources.
